The ICT framework guides teachers in developing a technology supported curriculum in an age-appropriate environment that nurtures confident and curious pupils with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) offers additional ways to learn and demonstrate learning. It allows teachers and pupils to:
- 1. manipulate images and data;
- 2. visualise concepts;
- 3. interact with on-screen materials and receive instant feedback.
Planning a Math lesson that uses ICT does not have to be a mammoth task. Remember, The key principles
Early Success, Strong Basics, and Steady Progress
Early success builds students’ confidence and motivates them to learn.
This, in turn, increases the chances of further success in learning. So we need
to make the first step in each journey of learning a successful one.
Strong basics stresses the importance of mastering basic concepts and skills
that are critical to further learning. Unless students understand these basic
concepts and skills well, it will be difficult for them to move forward.
Steady progress emphasises the need to be mindful of students’
developmental stages and the importance of scaffolding and pacing. Each
step forward should be manageable, so that students can build up their
learning gradually, with understanding.
Guidelines for creating an ICT-enriched lesson
A. Learning Outcome(s):
B. Pre-requisite Knowledge:
C. Lesson Activities Introduction
D. Lesson Development
- support/scaffold students’ learning? (e.g. for brainstorming, discussion and negotiation, knowledge
building/creation)
- support/scaffold SDL/CoL?
- assess and monitor students' learning?
E. Conclusion
F. Students’ Assessment
. How do we assess our pupil's learning?
. Has technology enhanced teaching and learning?

Guidelines for creating an ICT-enriched lesson
A. Learning Outcome(s):
- Based on the syllabus, what are the targeted attitudes, skills, and knowledge that students should learn?
- What are the core concepts that students must know?
B. Pre-requisite Knowledge:
- What are the pre-requisite knowledge and skills?
- How do we elicit students’ prior knowledge and skills?
- If pockets of students do not have the prior knowledge, what actions should we take to close the gaps?
- How ready are our students for SDL/CoL?
- How much scaffold do we have to provide for our students?
C. Lesson Activities Introduction
- How do we get the students motivated, curious and ready to learn?
- How is the topic introduced?
- What tuning-in activities are used to arouse students’ interest or curiosity?
D. Lesson Development
- support/scaffold students’ learning? (e.g. for brainstorming, discussion and negotiation, knowledge
building/creation)
- support/scaffold SDL/CoL?
- assess and monitor students' learning?
E. Conclusion
- How do we bring the lesson to a closure?
F. Students’ Assessment
